People may think they've seen everything on Earth. But not according to a team of scientists who claim to have seen a color that has never been seen before.

The claim follows a trial in which several scientists in the US had lasers placed in their eyes. By stimulating cells in the retina, the laser took their perception beyond natural limits, they say. The description of the color they experienced is not very clear, however five of them say they saw a type of “blue-green” color. However, according to them, this is not enough as a complete description of the experience.

"We predicted from the beginning that it would look like a completely new signal, but we didn't know what the brain would do with it," said Ren Ng, an electrical engineer at the University of California. "It was unexpected. It was elusive."

As this group of experts have said, color cannot be represented on any monitor.

The new color has been named "olo." Experts have said it can only be experienced through laser manipulation of the retina of the eye.

The process is only possible through highly advanced technology, and there is currently no way for the general public to experience this color. However, this technology could help in the future to better understand vision, color blindness, or eye diseases.

Scientists have said that "olo" will not be seen on televisions or virtual reality devices for a long time.

Their study was published in "Science Advances".
