Bethlehem, October 26 - The 1.500-year-old Mar Saba Monastery near Bethlehem in Palestine preserves to this day many traditions unique to this monastery. Within these traditions, women are not allowed to enter this monastery.
The Mar Saba Monastery was founded on a peak near the town of Ubejdije, which is located 20 kilometers south of Bethlehem.
It is said that one of the important personalities of the Christian world, Juhana el-Dimashki, stayed for a long time in this monastery and that the foundations of many rituals of the Orthodox Church were laid for the first time in this monastery and spread elsewhere in the world.
In a conversation with Anadolu Agency (AA), the monk Kelaritosh says that it was built by Saint Mar Saba, who, together with his disciples, came to this region at the end of the fifth century.
