Monkeys living at the Uluwatu temple in Bali, Indonesia, deliberately steal things from tourists and use them to bargain for food, a recent study says.
The unprecedented behavior of monkeys has been observed by researchers at the University of Lethbridge in Canada, writes the Daily Mail on Saturday.
The monkeys make sure to steal the most valuable things from tourists, such as smartphones, and then use their loot to search for food.
The researchers observed the shooting of the monkeys between 2015-2016.
When observing their behavior, the monkeys return their personal belongings to the tourists only after they consider that they have been given enough food.
