Igbo-Ora, a village in Nigeria with about 92 inhabitants, has over 2 twins, mostly members of the Yoruba tribe.
They make up about 21% of Nigeria's population and because of this, Igbo-Ora has been called the "twin capital of the world".
Twins are revered in Yoruba culture as gifts from God, dual entities protected by spirits and possessing magical powers.
This unique cultural perspective inspired photographer of the same origin 24-year-old Stephen Tayo, who photographed a portion of the twins.
The series of photos is titled "Ibeji" after the term used for twins in the Yoruba culture, writes CNN.
Tayo, who grew up in Ikere-Ekiti now lives in Lagos, is not a twin himself, but he wanted to tell a story that identified his tribe.

"It was really important for me to define how twins are seen in our culture. Other tribes see twins as an abomination from the pre-colonial era onwards, but the Yoruba see them as a blessing," said the photographer.
