Santa Claus exists in the imagination of millions of children, but for the people of North Korea he is not even an unreal personality.
The government there is constantly working to prevent the entry of any information about Christmas and therefore many citizens of this country do not even know that this holiday exists.
In North Korea, a country that opposes any type of organized religion, people can be arrested, mistreated and even killed for celebrating Christmas, reports Koha.net.
Kang Jimin, who grew up in Pyongyang, the capital of this country, confessed that until he fled there, he did not know that Christmas existed.
"This is the feast of the Nativity of Jesus, but North Korea is a communist state and people don't know who he is. They do not know who God is. The Kim family is their God," the media quoted him as saying.
However, decorated fir trees can be found in Pyongyang, but they are found there all year round and the citizens do not know their festive meaning, Koha.net reports. And this does not mean that the North Korean government has allowed the fir-shaped tower that South Korea has built on the border.

This tower, located about three kilometers from the border and illuminated during Christmas, can be seen from nearby North Korean villages.
North Korea threatened to raze it to the ground three years ago, saying the tower represented "psychological warfare".
