The world's oldest barber is a 108-year-old Japanese woman, and despite her age, she has no intention of quitting her job.
Shitsui Hakoishi says the recognition from the Guinness Book of World Records has brought her joy. She was presented with a certificate on Wednesday. Guinness World Records has a separate category for bearded men, but the man who was certified in 2018 at the age of 107, Anthony Mancinelli, has died, leaving Hakoishi in his place, the AP wrote.
Her career spans nine decades.
"I have come this far only because of my clients. I am filled with joy," she said.
Born on November 10, 1916, Hakoishi decided to become a barber when she was 14 and moved to Tokyo. She received her license at the age of 20 and opened a salon with her husband, first and then, after her husband's death, opened another in Nakagawa.

She says she's not ready to take the scissors out of her hands.
"I'm turning 109 this year, so I'm going to keep going until I'm 110," she says.
