Two thousand flamingos July visitors to the Narta lagoon

Flamingos, birds with thin necks and interesting colors, have returned during these hot July days to their 'home' in Kriporet and the Narta lagoon.

Nearly two thousand adult flamingo individuals are already concentrated in a dam trying to nest again, as the hunting memorandum has already turned this place into a safe habitat for these interesting birds.

Also these playful birds attract many visitors to observe their pirouettes, early in the day and greet the sun at its sunset. They have become a destination for tourism to observe them in the natural habitats where they live.

Narta Lagoon is ranked the second most important for waterfowl. In this lagoon there are about 20,000 winter birds of about 40 species, turning into a very rich habitat, also a place for pelicans and where flamingos meet regularly.

Narta Lagoon is located in the north-west of the city of Vlora, about 14 km away from it and has an area of about 42 km 2. It is separated from the Adriatic Sea by a narrow strip of sandy land, consisting of sand dunes and small beaches without dense vegetation/ATSH.
