Librarians in Illinois in the United States of America were surprised when an anonymous customer returned their book 43 years late.
As Upi wrote, the book "Jupiter's Moon" by author Margrett Wetterer was returned to the after-hours lending box, and library staff spent some time verifying the issue date.
The book was due back on January 19, 1980.
"Returning the book outside the specified period is followed by a fine, and the customer owes the library $316, but fortunately, we are a free library as of 2020," said the American library announcement.
The officials did not recognize the returner of the book.
