62 years since the creation of NASA

The former American president, Dwight Eisenhower, on July 29, 1958, signed the law establishing the American Space Agency, NASA.

This new civilian agency replaced the National Aeronautics Advisory Commission, which had been established 47 years earlier.

NASA would deal with the American space programs, a large part of which were run by the Department of Defense, according to kp.

Soon NASA began planning a project to send a manned round-trip mission to the moon.

President Eisenhower signed the law creating NASA eight months after the world learned that the Soviet Union had launched the satellite 'Sputnik One'.
