A 20-year-old with a great talent for geography has shown off his skills by breaking the Guinness World Record for identifying European countries.
The records organization said Jonathan Feather Ruggles achieved the record for the fastest time in identifying and writing all the countries of Europe on a map using Sporcle, completing the task in just 45.85 seconds.
“I’m honestly not sure where this interest came from,” Ruggles told Guinness World Records, “but I’ve always loved geography and have been doing geography quizzes on Sporcle ever since. In high school, I also played ‘Hearts of Iron IV,’ a game that simulates World War II, and that got me interested in world geography and history.”
He was inspired to pursue this record after speaking with his friend, Buffy Bui, who had previously broken the Guinness World Record for the fastest time in identifying and writing all the flags of Oceania on Sporcle.
“When I saw that there were other records on Sporcle, I thought to myself that maybe I could do them too,” he said, “and I tried to do them as quickly as possible!”.
