Today marks 1 year since Stephen Hawking, one of the most famous physicists in the world, passed away.
He closed his eyes forever at the age of 76 at his home in Cambridge.
The Englishman was known for his work with black holes and relativity, he also wrote several well-known scientific books, including "A Brief History of Time", reports KosovaPress.
At the age of 22, doctors had given him only a few years to live, after he was diagnosed with a rare nerve disease. The disease left him in a wheelchair and almost unable to speak.
Hawking had gradually lost the use of his hand, and by 2005 he began controlling his communication device with cheek muscle movements, at a rate of about 15 words per minute.
