In an atmosphere of tension, the meeting of the Commission for the Supervision of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency began, during which the director of the KIA, Petrit Ajeti, reported. He reported to the three opposition MPs, as the members of the commission belonging to the ruling party left the hall. The Chairperson of the Commission, Ganimete Musliu, said that Ajeti was invited to report on the statements that officials of this institution are following and eavesdropping on journalists, as well as on the influence of Dejona Mihali on the institutions.
Although the director of the Intelligence Agency (KIA), Petrit Ajeti, was called for a report, in the meeting of the Commission that supervises the KIA, the deputies took the role of the protagonist on Wednesday.
Salih Zyba and other deputies of Vetëvendosje, who are members of this commission, estimated that the meeting was called in an irregular manner by the chairman Ganimete Musliu, who is a deputy of the largest entity in the opposition, the Democratic Party.
Amid disagreements, the deputies of the ruling entity left the hall.
Only Musliu, the deputy of the Democratic League, Arben Gashi, and the one of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Bekë Berisha, remained at the meeting.
With the agreement of director Ajeti, the meeting was held closed.
While inside the hall the director of KIA was reporting to the three opposition MPs, in the corridor, the legislators who left the meeting held a media conference and emphasized that they were not informed about the reasons for Ajet's call for reporting.
"He invited the director of the agency, without us as MPs knowing what the questions and demands are. That is, the invitation to the director, his presence here, we consider his response based on the procedure regulation, but the progress and tendencies of the opposition, individuals, better to say, in particular, is not acceptable for the responsibilities we have as members of this commission", said Salih Zyba, deputy of the LVV.
The other deputy of this party, Arbër Rexhaj, also criticized director Ajeti.
"It is deliberately called extraordinary to create dramas which, in the days to come, you will see that they will be misused. Now, the director of KIA stayed inside, he has no right to stay inside because the meeting did not start", he said.
After the end of the meeting, the head of the commission addressed the media. Musliu said that the meeting was convened in a regular manner and showed the reasons why director Ajeti was invited to the report.
"To report about the statements of some media about the involvement of KIA officials in interception and monitoring of some journalists, as well as about the publication of Dejona Mihal's telephone messages with persons who run important institutions in the country, where the interference of her in decision-making", said Musliu.
Musliu said that director Ajeti was encouraged in the commission to maintain the integrity and credibility of KIA and it was emphasized that media freedom is an essential element of democracy.
