The government announces a new strategic approach for youth

Prime Minister Albin Kurti promised a new institutional approach to the youth, while participating in the presentation of the strategy drafting process for this part of the citizens. In this event, Minister Hajrullah Çeku criticized the previous governments for the way they approached young people.

The government has started drafting the strategy for the young, a document that is expected to be finalized and come into force next year.

In the presentation of the drafting process of this document, which refers to the period 2024-2032, Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the state's approach to youth is changing.

"The time has come to make a serious investment in our country, and the State Strategy for Youth is the tool; the tool that will bring all institutions to the table to reflect on the special challenges of young people in their sector and to design and implement public policies in their service", said Kurti.

And, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrullah Çeku, criticized the work that previous governments have done for young people.

In the process of drafting the Strategy, a questionnaire with young people is being carried out.

Engji Susuri, consultant in the drafting of the document, said that his goal is for young people to be directly part of the process.

"We are seeing that there are some challenges that can be called new and that coincide with the phenomena that are happening not only in our country but also globally. So mental health, sexual harassment, gender-based violence. We know that the problems in these challenges have increased especially in the last 2-3 years", said Susuri.

Kosovo has a youth strategy which was approved in 2019 and is valid for 2023.
