In a press conference, government officials said that the investment of 37 million euros is expected to build new housing units, renovate apartments, and even renovate or reconstruct private homes for vulnerable families.
The acting Minister for Labor, Family and War Values, Andin Hoti, has listed the social categories that can benefit from this social housing policy.
"Among them are families and individuals with unfavorable economic conditions, i.e. poor economic conditions, beneficiaries of social assistance, large families, single-parent families, the unemployed, homeless people, victims of domestic violence, victims of trafficking, young people, the elderly, people with disabilities, displaced and repatriated people, various communities, as well as children without parental care after leaving the shelter institution," Hoti declared.
And, the acting Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Fitore Pacolli, announced that the project has reached its final phase and that the signing of agreements with the 21 beneficiary municipalities will begin on Monday.
"This project is not simply an infrastructural construction, but a true platform for social justice where no one is left behind. It has a value of 37 million euros, of which 25 million euros are financed directly by the Council of Europe Development Bank, while 12 million euros are financed by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo," Pacolli said.
According to Pacolli, the budget distribution was made based on the social situation and poverty level in the municipalities. According to her, the project is also important for balanced territorial development and spatial planning.
