A protest was held on Monday in front of the Assembly of Kosovo by the technical workers who maintain this institution. After the expiration of the previous contract in which they were paid 270 euros per month, the new contract foresees a payment of 400 euros gross. However, the list of engaged workers has not been published and the shame of the strikers is that they have been excluded from this list, as punishment for the strike.
In front of the building of the Assembly of Kosovo, the workers who have been on strike for over 2 months on Monday have protested, expressing dissatisfaction with the institution of the Assembly and the company engaged in maintenance.
The striking women were not allowed to carry out their trade union activity inside the Parliament building.
They initially started the strike with the demand for a salary increase, as they were paid below the minimum allowed by law.
On Thursday, the contract of "Schafberger" company expired. And it was renewed a day later with a one-source tender. According to the agreement, a gross salary of 400 euros is foreseen for the technical workers.
However, the list of engaged workers has not been published. The strikers fear that they have been excluded from this list as punishment for the strike.

The representative of the strikers, Nazife Krasniqi, has said that the engagement of other workers in the Assembly by the contracted company is unfair.
"We will stay here until a solution is made for us, until we enter the workplaces to work, where we have been, we are only looking for this solution to work... The salary has increased, we have been asking for two months, at that moment that the salary has increased, we have not been allowed to enter the Assembly, it is something extreme. We have been asking for two months to increase salaries, now someone else has come and is enjoying our salaries inside, it is unacceptable", said Krasniqi.
Their protest has also been supported by the Collective for Feminist Thought and Action, whose members joined the protest on Monday.
The head of the Private Sector Union, Jusuf Azemi, has said that no one can remove the workers from the list while they are on strike and has also warned of a lawsuit against the company.
"Our strike is legal and the actions being taken by the Assembly and the company are illegal and we will normally continue in two ways: the strike and we will continue the lawsuit in court", he said.
Azemi said that on Monday he met with representatives of the Assembly and according to him, they were conveyed the message that the strike is right.

Assembly workers were paid 270 euros net also in October, even though at the beginning of that month the Government's decision to increase the minimum wage to 350 euros came into effect.
