The Special Prosecution Office has filed a new indictment against Aleksandër Vlajić, on suspicion of espionage. According to the prosecution, he served as an agent of the Serbian BIA, to which he sent important information and documents that violate the constitutional order and security of Kosovo, as well as the lives of state officials and its citizens.
A new indictment has been filed against Serb Aleksandar Vlajic, who is also being tried for the bomb attack on the Municipal Election Commission building in North Mitrovica.
The Special Prosecution Office has announced that an indictment for espionage has also been filed against him, on suspicion of having served as an agent of the Serbian BIA.
"The defendant, AV, is accused of having collected and sent to the Intelligence and Security Agency of the Republic of Serbia, from an unspecified date until the moment of his arrest, on 26.6.24, in his capacity as a resident agent, important information and documents that violate the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo, as well as the lives of state officials and its citizens," the Special Prosecution Office said in a statement.
The prosecution announced that from the evidence obtained, it resulted that in international organizations in Kosovo, Vlajić had created a network of employees of Serbian nationality, from whom he had received information and reports on the work of these organizations which, according to the indictment, were related to political and security aspects within the territory of the state.
The prosecution has announced that Vlajić has also collected information about persons of Serbian nationality, with the aim of presenting them as collaborators of Kosovo's security structures.
"The defendant had forwarded the information and documents obtained to the senior BIA official, RG, head of one of the BIA centers in the territory of Serbia, through telephone communications and physical meetings. Also, during the search of his house by the Kosovo Police, the defendant was found in possession, without authorization and in violation of the law in force, of a Crvena Zastava model weapon and a tear gas sprayer, which were seized at the scene," the statement said.
The prosecutor in the case has proposed to the Basic Court in Pristina that Vlajić's detention be extended until the end of the judicial review and that he be found guilty of the criminal offenses he is accused of. Along with him, Bedri Shabani, Muharrem Qerimi, Jelena Djukanović and Hysri Selimi are also in detention for espionage.
