The policemen warn of other actions if the Government does not fulfill their demands

Members of the two most elite units of the Police protested in front of the Government on Wednesday regarding the decision on the dangerousness allowances. In the protest, it was requested that the categorization be done as separate units, the inclusion in the list of experts, then the dangerousness be set at the rate of 50 percent of the basic salary and there should be allowances for specific working conditions.

Uniformed, with masks, glasses and without weapons, the most elite units of the Kosovo Police, on Wednesday addressed the Government yard.

Standing for several minutes without speaking or moving, the members of the Special Intervention Unit and that for the Handling of Explosive Devices expressed their dissatisfaction with the treatment by the Government of Kosovo.

One of them read the requests addressed to Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

"The requirements are as follows: Categorization as separate units and inclusion in the list of experts. The risk should be set at 50 percent of the basic salary and allowances for specific working conditions", said one of the members of this unit.

He added that their requests have not been addressed for 10 years and asked not to play with their dignity.

"Dear Prime Minister, you know very well the threats and dangers that the operators of these carry all the time not only during the performance of official duties but also in their private lives. And this is precisely because of the nature of the work we do. Therefore, do not play with our dignity, do not play with the feelings of our families", he said.

In case their demands are not addressed, without sharing more details, they warned of other actions.

The protest of special units was held a few days after the decision of the Government of Kosovo on the allocation of dangerousness allowances. According to this decision, they will be divided into seven categories, where the lowest supplement is 45 euros, until the highest is 150 euros.

Protests have also warned other units, while the dissatisfaction with the Government's decision on supplements has also been expressed by the Police Union.

The Special Intervention Unit and the Explosives Handling Unit are considered the most elite units of the Police because of the cases they face, such as the fight against terrorism, the release of hostages, cases of threats with explosives and bombs and others.
