PDAK criticizes Kurt for appointing a vice minister convicted of corruption

The Democratic Party of Ashkali of Kosovo is opposing the decision of Prime Minister Albin Kurti to appoint Agim Hysen as Deputy Minister. According to PDAK, he is convicted of corruption. Hyseni has said that the accusations of this party are being made out of anger and jealousy. He admitted that he had been convicted, but said it was related to a case in 1999 when he was part of a non-governmental organization.

Friday's decision of Prime Minister Albin Kurti to appoint Agim Hysen as Deputy Minister of Industry, Enterprise and Trade has been criticized by members of the Democratic Party of Ashkali of Kosovo.

Hyseni took the place of Resul Makreshi, who was dismissed the same day.

In the PDAK communique, it is stated that Deputy Minister Hyseni has misused funds in the past.

"We see the appointment of Agim Hysen as deputy minister, at the end of the mandate and during the campaign, as a low and scandalous act, promoting uneducated, corrupt and scandalous people to government positions", says the reaction of PDAK.

Hyseni admitted that he was sentenced by the court. However, he said that it has to do with his work in a non-governmental organization in 1999, but did not give more information.

"These are baseless accusations, which are absolutely not true. They made that reaction out of anger and jealousy. This subject was in 1999 and ended in 2012", said Hyseni.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti was also asked about this issue.

He said that the appointment of Hysen is part of the coalition agreement.

"I am in a coalition with the party that represents the Ashkali people in the Assembly of the Republic and our Government. Therefore, the deputy minister from among them is part of our coalition agreement as a separate name. Now we still haven't managed to examine what is being said about the new deputy minister, but when we do, we will take the appropriate decision or action", said Kurti.

Former Deputy Minister Makreshi is a member of PDAK, while the newly appointed Deputy Minister Murseli comes from the ranks of the Ashkali Party for Integration.
