The chairman of the Social Democratic Party, together with several of its activists, have organized a symbolic action in front of the Prosecutorial Council, following the election of the chairman. Representatives of this party have said that with these developments, the Vetëvendosje Movement has extended its influence in the KPK

The Social Democratic Party (PSD) organized a symbolic action on Tuesday in front of the State Prosecutor's Office in Pristina, through which they opposed the election of the new head of the Prosecutorial Council (KPK).
Activists of this party have written graffiti on the wall: "State Prosecutor's Office captured by VV."
This action was taken a few days after Alban Gashi was elected as the new head of the KPK.
PSD Chairman Dardan Molliqaj has criticized the Vetevendosje Movement (LVV) for, as he said, the capture of the KPK.
"Why is this decision important? The Prosecutorial Council has two essential elements that Vetëvendosje wants to control: First: it organizes the process of electing the Chief Prosecutor. As you know, for four years Kosovo has been without a Chief Prosecutor, for the first time in the history of this institution, because Prime Minister Albin Kurti appeared in the Kosovo Assembly and publicly declared that a person who was recruited during a process in the Prosecutorial Council will not be elected. So, it was not rejected in a democratic, procedural way, but it was rejected politically, publicly. Second: the recruitment of chief prosecutors, which is also a very important thing," said Molliqaj.
The KPK's nominee for chief prosecutor was refused to be appointed by President Vjosa Osmani, who questioned the integrity of the process that preceded the election. She also relied on the call made by civil society not to make the appointment.

But Molliqaj stressed that the election of a president close to the LVV could legitimize control over the prosecution and also influence the appointment of Constitutional Court judges.
"The main reason why Albin Kurti wants his president is to elect the chief prosecutor for seven years, because the prosecution body is lacking. Not only is the Police doing its job, but he also needs the Prosecution. And lastly, by electing the president, he will have the opportunity to decree the judges of the Constitutional Court. In this way, two institutions are rounded off in the capture of Vetëvendosje," he said.
The decreeing of judges is only a formal act by the president. They are elected by the Assembly, through a secret voting process.
The PSD leader called for a reaction from society and institutions to protect the independence of the judiciary.
