The Presidency has insisted that the diplomatic incident that President Osmani faced at the Skopje airport is a provocation. In response, this institution has expressed dissatisfaction with Monday's conference between the prime minister of Kosovo and the prime minister of North Macedonia, adding that the expression of regret, although welcome, does not address the remarks about violations of international diplomatic rules, which he presented Kosovo through the note of protest
The Presidency of Kosovo reacted strongly on Tuesday, expressing dissatisfaction with what was said at the Monday conference between the Prime Minister of Kosovo and the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristian Mickoski, regarding the diplomatic incident, when President Vjosa Osmani was asked for her phone and bag for scan on August 1 at Skopje airport.
In response, it was repeated that the episode at the airport was a provocation and the authorities of North Macedonia were asked to address the remarks of the protest note that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo presented to them.
"The manner in which the incident against the Republic of Kosovo was handled in Skopje during yesterday's press conference is regrettable, because it has contributed even more to the propaganda against the Republic of Kosovo. What happened at the Skopje airport was a clear violation of international rules recognized and applied worldwide, therefore the Presidency expects to be notified of the measures taken regarding these violations, as it was emphasized in the note of protest sent by the Republic of Kosovo", says the reaction of the Office of the President.
In Monday's conference, Kurti said that he expects a detailed report on the incident Mickoski expressed regret and that he himself goes through such procedures when traveling from Skopje airport.
Apart from the Macedonian Government, from the Office of the President, Vjosa Osmani, criticism has also been addressed to that of Kosovo.
At the conference in Skopje, Prime Minister Kurti did not call the incident with Osman a provocation.
The Presidency also said that a report should not be expected from the authorities in Skopje and that the expression of regret is not enough.
"While we appreciate the expression of regret by the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, unfortunately, until now, at no time have the institutions of North Macedonia addressed the issues raised in the protest note related to the violation of customary international law in relation to the Republic of Kosovo, but, on the contrary, openly and without any hesitation have accepted such a violation. For this, additional reports and investigations are not needed for any factual situation, because they are completely irrelevant before the public acceptance of the institutions of North Macedonia that such a rule was deliberately imposed, despite the clear requirements of international law", it is further stated in reaction.
In its response, the Presidency has mentioned 37 countries where the president has traveled and has not faced problems like those in North Macedonia. Regarding the public reactions, he said that he was forced to react because of the media interest.
"The Presidency of the Republic has handled this incident only in an inter-institutional manner and without making it public, in order to preserve the relations between the two states, until the moment when a propaganda of unprecedented proportions has started against the President, in which case the Presidency is forced to respond to the great interest of the media", says the reaction.
According to the Presidency, to address the note of protest sent by the institutions of Kosovo, there must be political will in North Macedonia.
"As it was said in the previous reactions, President Osmani throughout her political career, and in particular during her mandate as the country's president, has contributed to the development and deepening of positive relations with North Macedonia. However, she cannot accept, in any way, the mudslinging of the Republic of Kosovo. This situation can easily be overcome if there is political will from official Skopje".
On Monday, the media in North Macedonia reported that criminal charges were filed against 3 people. It was reported about two policemen and a security member of the head of parliament of North Macedonia, Afrim Gashi.
