Haxhiu: The government in Serbia helped in several escapes from Kosovo prisons

The Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, has accused Serbia of having a hand in some of the escapes from Kosovo's prisons. She called the official Belgrade information about the murder of one of the fugitives, Faton Hajrizi, contradictory. The Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, said on Saturday that the last escapes from Kosovo prisons, including that of Faton Hajrizi, were facilitated and organized by Serbia.

A day after Hajrizi was killed in Serbia, during the operation to capture him after allegedly killing a Serbian policeman on Thursday, Haxhiu said that this should be confirmed, as, according to her, the information provided by the Serbian authorities was contradictory.

"Information from our bodies suggests that at least in some cases, these escapes were created, organized, co-organized and facilitated by criminal groups connected to power structures in the territory of Serbia. This organization consists in giving a guarantee that for such persons the territory of Serbia, the criminal groups there, and certain levels of power, offer them protection from the criminal prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo", said Minister Haxhiu.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, previously accused Kosovo of organizing the murder of the Serbian policeman and referred to Hajriz as an "Albanian terrorist". According to him, Hajrizi was part of the structures of Kosovo.

Meanwhile, the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said a day ago that there are many strange things in the entire history of Hajriz, and that he was influenced by various services.

However, Minister Haxhiu has reacted to this rhetoric saying that it is a warning for future events prepared in Belgrade that have a clear chauvinistic and ethno-political perspective.
"The use of the act of the criminal murder of the policeman by the interior minister in Serbia, as the basic impetus for legitimization to create the need for a cause of counterattack against the Albanians and their institutions, or to create a circumstance of equalization with incomparable events in no dimension, it is completely unacceptable and deliberate", Minister Haxhiu said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not indicated how they will act after the reports about Hajrizi's murder and whether they have asked Serbia to return his body to Kosovo.

And, lawyer Florim Shefqeti, says that there is no legal basis for Hajrizi's body to be kept in Serbia.

"The only legal way for the removal of his body is for the Ministry of Justice to submit a request to UNMIK, respectively to the liaison office, and for this office to then submit a request to the Serbian authorities for the removal of his body," Shefqeti said. .
