Hamza speaks about the police - remains silent about the PDK incident in Skenderaj

PDK Chairman Bedri Hamza reacted to the presence of special police units in Skenderaj, but did not comment on the incident that allegedly involved the mayor of Skenderaj, who comes from the party he leads, Sami Lushtaku. A day after the clash with LVV officials, Hamza accused the acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti of propaganda and division, while PDK's reactions to the case remained reserved.

The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Bedri Hamza, reacted to the presence of the special unit last night in Skenderaj, but did not say a word about the incident in which the mayor of this municipality, Sami Lushtaku, was involved.

"I urge the acting prime minister to stop the propaganda, stop the hatred and, above all, immediately stop the provocations and misuse of the state for his own party scenarios. He cannot prevent the abandonment by voters with dangerous divisive scenarios. Stop, Albin," Hamza said.

A day earlier, PDK vice-president Blerta Deliu-Kodra condemned the violence, but said that it stemmed from the provocations, lynchings, and systematic accusations that she said were made against Lushtaku.

"Violence is not a solution. But neither are provocations, lynchings and systematic accusations. Because when the language of hatred, division and dehumanization is installed for years, the consequences are not long in coming. One thing leads to another," Deliu-Kodra emphasized.

Former Democratic Party of Kosovo MP, Xhavit Haliti, said last night on "Interaktiv" that PDK awaits an assessment of the situation by law and order authorities.

"I think the Democratic Party will make a statement. If not today, tomorrow because there is no other way. Sami is the party leader in Skenderaj, he is the mayor of the municipality, he is an important political figure and of the historical past of Kosovo, so it is not easy for them to declare. I believe that it is not an electoral process, but there should be additional independent information from both sides," Haliti emphasized.

Former Vetëvendosje MP Egzon Azemi sees PDK's lack of reaction differently.

"None of the deputies have the courage to come out and condemn such an act, because in fact, in their political entity, the party leader is someone who is the leader of another municipality, but is not the party leader. The time when parties lead with muscle and not with knowledge is over," Azemi emphasized.

Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, when asked about the reaction of security and justice institutions to yesterday's incident, said that it was delayed. According to him, the VV activists were sentenced to prison for status and that now they will see how justice will act for the attack on Mehani.

"In my opinion, the reaction of both the police and the prosecution was delayed. I don't know what happened later in the hours after midnight, but I know that the reaction should have been much faster," Kurti said.

Late last night, there was a presence of special police units in Skenderaj, which prompted a reaction from citizens.

Meanwhile, the Mitrovica Prosecution Office has announced that it has interviewed suspects and witnesses.

According to this institution, two people have been detained for 48 hours.
