Police officer Mirsad Kryeziu testified on Wednesday about the events of the night of September 24, 2023, when the terrorist attack in Banjska, Zvecan, took place. He recounted the moments when Serbs started shooting at the Kosovo Police, as well as the murder of his colleague, Afrim Bunjaku. In the case, in which three Serbs are being tried, two of Kryeziu's police colleagues also testified two days ago.
Police officer Mirsad Kryeziu confessed on Wednesday before the trial panel at the Basic Court in Pristina about the physical injuries and psychological trauma he experienced on the night of the terrorist attack on September 24, 2023 in Banjska, Zveçan.
In the trial of the defendants Dušan Maksimović, Blagoje Spasojević and Vladimit Tolić, police officer Kryeziu, who on the night of the attack was in charge of one of the police units that participated in the action against the Serbian paramilitary group, emphasized that on September 24, 2023, everything was normal until the moment when the police team noticed two trucks at the entrance to Banjska, a village in Zvečan, which is a municipality inhabited mainly by Serbs in northern Kosovo.
"Our suspicions were because we have encountered such road blockades before, and during all these blockades that have been made in different parts of Mitrovica, people have been observed guarding these blockades with weapons, especially long weapons," he emphasized in his testimony before the trial panel.
Kryeziu's testimony followed that of his two police colleagues, Alban Rashiti and Çlirim Shaqiri, who appeared in court on Monday.
On Wednesday, Kryeziu also revealed details about the moment when he realized that Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was seriously injured.

"I heard an explosion and the shooting started in the direction of our positions. I left the truck for a moment and headed towards the police, where they were stationed, and while going there I noticed that from the detonator one of our members was lying on the ground, which was actually Afrim Bunjaku, lying on the ground and covered in blood," he confessed.
Kryeziu assessed the attack three years ago as well thought out, emphasizing that it was organized by the military structure.
He also said that the village of Banjska was deliberately selected for attack, due to the favorable positioning of the terrorists.
"There were also pilgrims in Manastir that day, using them as defenders, positioning themselves in good and favorable positions for the attackers. It is clear that behind them there was a free position and space, where they, in their failure to achieve success, fortunately, had a way to leave," said police officer Kryeziu.

Regarding the attack in late September 2023, the Special Prosecution Office filed an indictment against Milan Radoicic and 43 other people in September of last year for the attack in Banjska. Three of them were arrested at the scene and are being tried, while international arrest warrants have been issued for 41 others.
The indictment charges most of the defendants with terrorism and serious crimes against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo. According to the 158-page document, Radoićić is also charged with facilitating and financing terrorism and money laundering, while Radulle Stević and the legal entity RAD DOO are charged with money laundering. The indictment states that the group of armed Serbs, through the use of violence with heavy weapons, attempted to “separate the northern part of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, namely the municipalities inhabited by a Serb majority, and to annex this part of the territory to the Republic of Serbia”.
