"If by Friday those water pumps will not come into operation, then I have no other choice... The lawsuit will be against the company. The company should give me clarifications. The company is to blame for not providing the pumps we requested", emphasized the mayor of Zveçan municipality, Ilir Peci.
Residents of the village of Zhazh and that of Boletin in the Municipality of Zveçan are expected to protest on Wednesday, because of the problems they have had in the supply of drinking water for four months.
For this situation, the mayor of the Municipality of Zveçan, Ilir Peci, has blamed both the water supply company and the private company, which won the tender for fixing the water pumps in these villages.
As for this company, Peci has warned that he will file a lawsuit because he did not properly perform the works for which he was contracted.
"If by Friday those water pumps will not come into operation, then I have no other choice... The lawsuit will be against the company. The company should give me clarifications. The company is to blame for not giving us the pumps we asked for," Peci said on KTV's "60 Minutes" show.
"They called me from the company, they asked me to wait until Friday. Now they have a kind of deadline", he declared, as he said that he intended to file the lawsuit against the company as early as Tuesday.
Peci also commented on the quality of some pumps that the company has installed.
"The government has allocated the means, about 45 thousand euros. The government has authorized the water supply company to open a tender for the adjustment of water pumps. An Albanian company won the tender. The procedure started two or three months late. Some pumps were attached, but the pumps attached by this company were weaker than they were", he said.
The mayor of Zveçan announced that a meeting was held with representatives of the water supply company and private companies, but he emphasized that they left the meeting after "we saw that something is not going well".
"The water supply and the company blamed each other, but in the end the residents suffer. They are running out of water", added Peci.
The residents of the municipality have asked for a quick solution to their water problem. Considering their request as legitimate, he warned that he will join the residents in the protest, as a sign of support.
Peci has announced that the investment made for the work that has already had to be completed in the villages of Zveçan, reaches the figure of 45 thousand euros.
