Variety: "Woke up" among the nominees for "Oscars"

The first predictions regarding the prestigious "Academy Awards" have begun to be published. The well-known American medium "Variety" is among the first to publish the list of films that, according to them, will be among the nominees for the "Oscar" award. In the top five of the category for the best international film is "Zgjoi", directed by Blerta Basholli.

"Variety" has emphasized that the nomination of "Zgjoi" would make Kosovo for the first time have a film nominated at the American Academy.

A decade ago, the director and screenwriter Blerta Basholli was going to work to weave the threads of the project for a film with the story of Fahrije Hoti. Among the many difficulties during the realization, there was hope that at least the film would have its premiere at the "Sundance Film Festival". The courage to dream was rewarded at this year's edition, the largest American film festival held in Utah. From there, "Zgjoi" came out adorned with three trophies: the Grand Jury Prize, the Audience Prize and the Prize for the director.

The national premiere came with the news that it is Kosovo's candidate for nomination in the "Oscar" of Europe. And on December 21, it was announced that "Zgjoi" is on the short list for "Oscar".

The 8 nominated films will be announced on February 5, and the main ceremony will be held on March 27.
