The "World Choir Games" are postponed, the duo of "Siparantum" joins the call with songs

The organizers of the 11th edition of the "World Choir Games" in Belgium have chosen an attractive way to announce that they have postponed this year's edition. They published a video where members from different choirs around the world sing together the song "Better is one day", with the call for people to stay at home.

Among them are the tenor Anton Čivlaku and the soprano Lumturije Shabani from "Siparantum". The choir from Peja was selected to represent Kosovo in these competitions. In addition to the video, the network of non-profit organizations "Interkultur" has also issued a statement about the postponement.

The World Choir Games, the largest choir competition in the world, was expected to be held from July 5 to 15 in Antwerp and Ghent, Belgium, and is now expected to be held from July 2 to 12 next year. The founding conductor of "Siparantum", Memli Kelmendi, at the same time a member of the World Choir Council (World Choir Council), was notified on Saturday night about the postponement of the competitions, part of which was also the choir he leads. He said that the decision is the right one, considering the situation.

"I think this is a fair decision, considering that there are over 25.000 participants. This is not a problem for us at all, on the contrary I am happy about it, since we will have more time to find funds and artistically we will be better prepared. The important thing is that we are part of the biggest choral competition in the world", said Kelmendi.

In January, the "Siparantum" choir was forced to launch a call for help from businesses and art lovers. They needed 23 thousand euros to cover all the expenses for participating in the competitions where Kosovo as a country would participate for the first time. This amount has not yet been reached. "Thanking all those who have so far tried their best to secure funds for our trip to the 'World Choir Games', such as the Office of the President of the Republic of Kosovo, the 'Peja' association in New York, the 'Peja' association in London , Embassy of France in Kosovo, AFK, Gazmend Pavata, Afrim Shabani, Nazmi Morina and others.
