Lectures, roundtables, language courses and presentations are the long-standing segments on which the Seminar builds its program. This year's guests are some of the most eminent figures of albanology and language in the world, such as linguist Brian Joseph, academician Ranko Matasovic, professor Jose Manuel Floristan Imizcoz, lecturer Phil Hubbard, who returns to the event after 47 years, albanologist Rexhep Ismajli and historian Oliver Jens Schmitt. As in previous years, this edition of the International Seminar on Albanian Language, Literature and Culture is led by Professor Bardh Rugova, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo.
He said that this year they tried to bring as many prominent figures of Albanianology to the world as possible, enriching the event.
"It will be, for sure, one of the most authoritative and richest conferences of albanology that has ever been held. This means that some of the biggest names in albanology in the world will participate. We have always tried to have these big names in the Seminary, but not all together in one place. This year, we have made an effort not to be just a few, but to bring all the best together in a joint conference", he said in a conversation with KOĖN.
He announced that about 300 participants are expected, from whom the program is built, as well as those who attend language courses at three levels.
"If we talk about those who come to learn Albanian at three levels, the number will be approximately the same as in previous years - about a hundred. As for those who will come to announce, for reference, lecture, the total number is about 200 such. This means that we have a total of 300 participants at all levels", he said.

The seminar starts towards the new half-century with big goals
The seminar starts its work with the solemn opening at the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo at 11:00 a.m. and then there will be language courses, while a table with the theme "50th anniversary of the Seminar" will be organized, where the papers will be presented of Albanian researchers.
This year there is no axis theme. The Director of the Seminar, Bardh Rugova, said that this is like the first time in the history of the event.
"This year, we did not want to organize an axis theme. It is the first time in the Seminar that there is no axis topic. It is open and everything related to Albanianology can be discussed", he said.
On the second day of the Seminar, the "Hour of Rexhep Ismajli" lecture is organized, while references from foreign researchers are scheduled in the afternoon.
On Wednesday, on the third day, Yll Rugova will give a lecture at the National Library on the topic "The oldest original alphabet of Albanian: in the light of a new source", while on the topic "Albanology projects in the world" will be presented the studies of Sabri Hamit, Mehmet Kraja, Nysret Krasniqi, Vjosa Osman, Elsa Sk[ender, Adelajda Baftiu, Lumnije Jusufi and Blertë Ismajli.
On Thursday, among other activities, academician Shaban Sinani will deliver the lecture "A comparative look at social literature in the Balkans in the period between the two wars".
Albanian culture in this year's edition is presented with the concert of Arbëresh music by the singer Anna Stratigo and Spiro Pano on the cello, which takes place on Wednesday, as well as with the presentation of the artist Sislej Xhafa on the topic "Kosovo art in the world" - together with the screening of a film local and a literary class.
"This year we have decided to organize a concert of Arbëresh music with Anna Stratigo. Last year we had a concert with the Arbëresh residents of Zara, this year with those from Italy. Anna Stratigo is a well-known singer of Albanian music. We will have a presentation by Sislej Xhafa about contemporary art in the world and we will have Arbëresh poetry with Mario Bellizi. For the seminarians, we will release the film 'Vera andrron detin'. This year we had a successful period of cinematography in Kosovo and we wanted to reflect this through the screening of one of these films", announced Professor Rugova.
Names from countries such as the United States of America, Turkey, Russia, Scotland, Austria, Hungary and more will be part of the references.

The seminar – a tradition that is being renewed, a bridge of communication for Albanology
On Saturday, a visit will be organized to Prekaz and Prizren, while on Sunday to Ulpiana and the Gadime Cave, as well as to the home schools of the 90s.
Next Monday gathers the researchers at the table organized for Ismail Kadare, while the busy program continues throughout the week. Until Friday, when the 42nd Seminar on Albanian Language, Literature and Culture closes. Academician Rexhep Ismajli will hold a lecture on Thursday with the topic "Albanian studies in the former Yugoslavia".
In the last edition, while he was talking about the Seminar, he said that the event has a long history and that it has survived major social and political changes in Kosovo and the Balkans.
"He survived for a simple reason. From the beginning, the aim of the seminar has been integration within the framework of Albanian sciences within Albanianology. Thanks to the great commitment of researchers from around the world, we have managed to survive as an institution and now the Seminary has a very open and very clear way of its work and activity", said Ismajli.
The last edition aimed to delve into the topics "Albanian literature and intertextualism" for literature and "Albania in danger" for language. Apart from the central program with lectures, tables, language courses and not only, the visits to the institutions of the cities were also special, as well as the preparation of traditional foods and the presentation of national clothes as a trace through the Albanian culture.
In the 90s, the Seminar was temporarily interrupted, due to the situation at that time, as Kosovo was practically under occupation. Rugova announced that the opening date of the 42nd edition will be August 19.
The seminar was founded in 1974 by the Faculty of Philology (then: Faculty of Philosophy) of the University of Pristina. Every year, this seminar brings together dozens of researchers and students who deal with grammatical problems, those of Albanian literature, culture, as well as those of Albanianology in general.
Most of the times, the International Seminar on Albanian Language, Literature and Culture has been held in Kosovo, except for the years 1995, 1996 and sessions 19-20 of the years 2000-2001, which were held in Tirana in cooperation with the Institute of Linguistics and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of Albania. The first director of the Seminar was academician Idriz Ajeti. One of the halls where the activities of this event are organized bears his name.
The seminar is organized for researchers and students who deal with problems of language, literature and Albanian culture, but also with Albanianology.

Seminar focusing on Albanian in social networks and postmodernism in literature
Last year, within the framework of the International Seminar on Albanian Language, Literature and Culture, scholars and guests from European countries brought their studies, while one hour was dedicated to the writer of academician Eqrem Basha.
The previous edition started on August 14, where academician Muhamedin Kullashi held the lecture entitled: "Kosovo issues in international prisms". The program had continued until August 25.
