"Cells" made of marble for the preservation of cultural heritage

Not a few historians argue that the cells used in the Albanian lands are similar to those used by the Illyrians. They are considered an important part of the Albanian tradition and therefore left an impression on the sculptor from Peja, Haxhi Gjoni. The self-taught artist, concerned by the fact that the cell today is not used as before and that this part of the heritage may be covered by dust, has taken on the role of heritage protector. In the last two months, he has sculpted three cells in marble, giving shape to his "Cell" project. It considers it a way to preserve national values.

The three cells made of soft marble have a height of 12 centimeters and a width of 8 centimeters. John said that they differ from each other as they have different shapes and belong to different provinces.

"A large part of my creativity has been devoted to national figures, symbols, and I have not been able to ignore the cell, knowing that it has been carried by our ancestors until today. "Although today it is very rare to see someone with a cell phone, and that's why I thought of sculpting it in marble," he said.

He has shown that most of his works are related to the country's cultural heritage.
