"Adelina", written and directed by Aurela Berila, has been awarded three "Docs Barcelona" awards and such a triumph confirms not only the success of the young director, but also of the new wave in Kosovo's cinematography. "For me, these awards are a great encouragement for the realization of the project in the best way, as the subject deserves", said Berila. "We are very proud of this project. Of the six awards with which the International Documentary Film Festival "Docs Barcelona" rewards film projects, the one with which Aurela Berila brings the story about the pop singer Adelina Ismaili, has received half of them. The project with producer Eroll Bilibani, leader of "DokuLab", the film laboratory school of "DokuFest", received "Best Project Award", "Best Pitch Award" and "San Sebastian Foro Lau Haizetara Award". This is the second time that a festival in Spain that does not know the country, appreciates the film project that unfolds the narrative of Ismail's career, cultural and social impact and more. "Docs Barcelona" this year marks the 27th edition.
The case study of the researcher of critical theories at New York University would seem unusual. There is no science in Adelina Ismaili's appearances, but she proved that she could break it down through scientific theories. At least when this study was also brought into the version of the cinematographic project.
The awards - which were distributed within the "Industry Awards" of the "Docs Barcelona" festival - open the way to success for "Adelina".
In an answer to KOĖN, the researcher and director of the documentary, Aurela Berila, briefly said that the awards are an encouragement for her.

Producer Eroll Bilibani said that the success of the film is proof of the validation of the new wave of directors from Kosovo. According to him, they are bringing a new and fresh voice to Kosovar cinema.
"The very fact that we have come to Spain, a country that until the liberalization of visas we were not able to come, to impress the professional jury to give the main prize to the main project of 'Docs Barcelona', to win the prize for the forum at the big festival in San Sebastian, but also the provision of support by HBOmax, which I believe will in the future also provide distribution on television channels and various international platforms, once again proves the quality of the film", said Bilibani for TIME .
He expressed his pride with the presentation of Aurela Berila at the "Docs Barcelona" documentary festival. He considered her as a director with extraordinary potential.
"At that moment I was very proud with Aurela's presentation, which really fascinated the jury members and out of six awards, we got half. We are very proud of this project. We are very proud of the fact that we will share the story of Adelina Ismaili with the world through the lens of Aurela Berila. It is another validation of Aurela as a director, who has tremendous potential and who will share Adelina's story with the world", said Bilibani, while also thanking Adelina Ismaili for "trusting her with her personal story". as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Cinematographic Center of Kosovo for their support.
According to him, these awards "have a special meaning because it shows that festivals, the international film industry is looking for directors, fresh innovative voices that can transform archival materials into stories, films that are for wide audiences and that can have distribution in cinemas".
"Adelina" had a performance on Thursday. The International Documentary Film Festival "Docs Barcelona" is being held from May 2 to 12.

"Docs Barcelona" is a global project specialized in the documentary genre. The event includes a festival, professional market, a network of exhibitions and courses for filmmakers. It consists of international competitive, out-of-competition and masterclass sections.
The award for "Best Project" is the main award of the festival, which awards the winner the sum of 4 euros. The "Best Pitch Award" is awarded by the broadcast platform "HBO Max" and includes a reward of two thousand euros and a contribution to the development of the documentary film. "Adelina" will be part of the forum "San Sebastian - Foro Lau Haizetara" as a result of the award with the same name. The forum takes place within the 500rd edition of the festival in San Sebastian, this September in Spain.
The films are shown in the "Auditorium's Teatro Studio", which is a multifunctional space with a capacity of 300 seats.
And in Barcelona, "Adelina" was awarded at the "MakeCoProDox Forum" with the "Docs around Europe Network Award at Docs Barcelona" in the fifth edition of this event last August.
Researcher Aurela Berila presented her project in December 2022 at the National Library of Kosovo through a lecture. "Adelina: A story of being without compromise" comes as a research project that analyzed the artistic activity of Adelina Ismaili in the face of problematic social circumstances during the 90s and 2000s, with the aim of reading it through critical and feminist theory, with the hope to serve as a starting point for a wider dialogue on the role of individual creative expression in collective thinking.
Apart from a scientific publication in the form of a research essay, the project took the form of a public lecture with the aim of offering the subject the merited space in an academic context to reflect on its social and cultural impact.
