The statue of Dede Gjon Luli is inaugurated in the renovated Museum in Bardhaj of the Great Highlands

Tuz, August 26 - In Bardhaj of Malësë e Madhe in Montenegro, the statue of Dede Gjon Luli was inaugurated on Sunday, in the house-museum of the national hero. His house was burned down several times and from its ruins what can be seen today was created, which inside unfolds the history of Dede Gjon Luli's family.

The activist Gjokë Gojçaj has said that it was not easy to complete such an object, in accordance with museological requirements, due to the fact that the original house had been overturned and destroyed many times by many enemies, and there was nothing left of except for a total ruin, covered with thorns and bushes. He, together with many other emigrants mainly from the United States of America, have helped to complete the house-museum, but also to build the sept.

"A house of today, abandoned, with dry walls and with all the items exposed without any museological criteria, with a flag as if a stick had been forgotten, could not be a dignified solution nor a closed topic for an entire province , which holds so much pride for its son Dede Gjon Luli, the symbol of the prelude to the establishment of the Albanian state", said Gojçaj. According to him, this was enough incentive for a group of like-minded people to turn to voluntary work to look for new opportunities for the enrichment of this object.

"Moved by this philosophy, today, after more than a century, its master, Dede Gjon Luli, is returning to this house, more immortal than ever before. We were convinced that, to our eldest son of the Great Highlands, this generation owed an immortal work of art to his birthplace..." he said.

Academician Anton Berisha said that all Albanians should be proud of Dede Gjon Luli's activity.
