The International Conference of Albanology, dedicated to our national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu, opened its second session on Monday, which will continue until October 26 and then give way to the third and last session.
Tomi Frashëri, the head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Year of Gjergj Kastriot Skënderbeu, told the Albanian Telegraphic Agency that this session will also have a significant number of researchers who will present their perspectives on the figure of Our National Hero, Gjergj Kastriot Skënderbeu. "Today we will start with Professor Dhori Qiriazi, who comes from Athens. Also, during this session we will have well-known figures, here I am mentioning Professor Aleksandër Meks, or Professor Luan Malltez. This session is expected to last until October 26. On November 1-3 we will have a marathon section with short lectures. There will be about 40 researchers with these documents. This Conference is bearing important fruits in academic life and it seems that it will be a very good opportunity to gather for new processes and the traces that our National Hero Skënderbeu has left in history", said Frashëri.
"We hope that the media coverage will be appropriate, but also of interest to the public, as this activity evaluates the figure of Skenderbeu from a scientific point of view, not a political or other nature. For this reason, the government attaches importance to this statement. Next year, these statements will be collected and published", said Frashëri during the interview for the Albanian Telegraphic Agency.
Professor Dhori Qiriazi, during an interview for the Albanian Telegraphic Agency, within the Skenderbe Nationwide Conference, confessed his discovery on an article written by Thimi Mitko. "My lecture is inspired by a document that I discovered in the Albanian State archive, here in Tirana, a few years ago by Thimi Mitko. A 15-page manuscript dealing with a controversy of Mitkos with the Greek historian Konstandinos Paparigopoulos. The latter states or corrects that, according to him, Skënderbeu is not Albanian at all, but of Slavic origin. As soon as Mitko reads this article by Paparigopoulos, he writes a long letter in which he intervenes with documents and in an emotional way and emphasizes that Skënderbeu is not only of Albanian blood, but is an inspiration for the Albanian people. Likewise with the other Revivalists, Mitko understood that in order to become Albania, which was an abandoned vineyard, the Albanian people must be made, and this is done through Skënderbeu and the re-elevation of his figure, turning into a pinnacle of the conception of the Albanian people. It is something very important, well done and well thought out", said Qiriazi.
"For me, he added, Skenderbeu is a source of inspiration, he is a hero, a super hero. The Albanian people have a curse, "unfound grave", but Skënderbeu is a blessed grave, a ubiquitous grave. As Kadareja said, Skenderbeu has his grave in the Blood of Arbri, of the Albanian, and I would add that Skanderbeu has his grave in the free spirit in the desire for freedom, and inspires freedom for those people who fight for freedom, not only in the Balkans, but in all of Europe", said Qiriazi
The nationwide year of Skanderbeg will end with the great summit of the diaspora, in November, when the third section of the Albanology Conference will be held. In this month (November) there will be a series of big activities.
