Acting Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci, has said that this ministry will request an official report from the University of Pristina regarding those who received scholarships for enrollment as "students" in the Albanian Language and Literature program of the Faculty of Philology and who subsequently did not continue their studies.
In a Facebook post on Friday evening, Nagavci said the decision to award these scholarships was made out of concern that the programs risk closing due to lack of interest from students. As for managing the process, she said it is the responsibility of higher education institutions. Nagavci said they will request an official report and then take the necessary steps to address the issue.
"In this context, we have received with concern information from the media that there are cases where scholarship beneficiaries have interrupted their studies. In accordance with the principles of transparency and accountability, MASTI will request an official report from the University of Pristina regarding these cases and will take all necessary steps to address institutional responsibilities. At the same time, together with the UP management and staff there, we will evaluate further actions with the aim of full efficiency in relation to affirmative measures in support of the Albanian Language and Literature programs," she wrote.
She said that the preservation and development of the Albanian language and literature is a priority of the Government. Nagavci said that educational institutions must guarantee that investments are translated into measurable and sustainable results.
