One of the icons of Albanian cinematography and ballet, Mimika Luca, has died at the age of 85. Colleagues and heads of institutions have appreciated it as an added value of Albanian art. The death was confirmed on Tuesday by her son, Gjergj Luca. He announced that the burial of the actress will take place on Wednesday.
Mimika Luca was born in Gjirokastra on December 24, 1937. She performed on the stage of the Opera and Ballet Theatre, as a ballerina, from 1951 to 1962. In 1962, she was accepted as an actress in what was the People's Theatre.
During her career as a theater actress, Mimika Luca has performed in about 30 roles, Lucia in "Noble Bourgeoisie", Tjen Ny in "The Great Wall", Dila in the drama "Cuca e maleve", Nica in "The General of the Dead Army" ", Laja in "When the foundations were laid", Sonja in "Xhaxha Vanja". Her interpretation is one of the best in the drama "Light".
Mimika Luca has also performed in 12 feature films, such as "The train leaves at seven to five", "Tale from the past", "Taulanti is looking for a sister" and many others. He also wrote several plays, which were staged in the People's Theater, the most popular being "Drita", etc. In 1977, he became a teacher at the Higher Institute of Arts, Drama Department. "Goodbye dear Mimika! You have already hugged Ndreka and this will make Gjergji stronger, I hope", he wrote on Facebook.
The Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti, said that with a natural simplicity and depth, Mimika Luca has managed to create a rich gallery of characters.
"The younger generations have a lot to learn from the legacy she has left in Albanian cinematography. Rest in peace!", she wrote on Facebook.
