The work on the reconstruction of the Memorial of our National Hero Gjergj Kastrioti-Skënderbeu is continuing at a fast pace and is nearing completion, ATSH informs.
The project was designed by the Institute of Cultural Monuments and is financed by the Ministry of Culture, as part of the "Roads of Faith" program, within the "National Year of Skanderbeg".
In the Skanderbeg Memorial in Lezhë, the intervention foreseen by the Institute of Cultural Monuments and the Ministry of Culture is in the restoration works on this monument, as well as on the walls of the ancient city, in the reconstruction of the cover, the consolidation and restoration of the mural painting and the mosaic.
The burial place of Skënderbeu is one of the most important monuments in the history of Albania. In addition to the walls of the church, this building also has an apse, where the bust of Skanderbeg, the fresco of Saint Nicholas, the windows and the three arches above the church door are located.
On the walls are hung 25 bronze shields, which show the 25 main battles of Skanderbeg. Copies of Skanderbeg's bronze sword and helmet are placed on the marble slab.
