London, the next stop for "Pristina 2002"

January will find the short film "Prishtina 2002" also in London. This is the next address that has been confirmed for this film by Trëndelin Halil, after the prestigious French festival, "Festival du court métrage de Clermont-Ferrand". It is also in international competition at the Short Film Festival in London

After the officialization of the world premiere at the prestigious short film festival in Clermont-Ferrand, France, "Pristina 2002" has also confirmed the next stop. The short film directed by Trendelin Halil will be screened in London. In January, as in France, it will be the British premiere and will be shown at the 20th edition of the Short Film Festival. The film will be shown as part of the "Coming-of-age" international program, dedicated to stories dealing with the premature growth of children. "London Short Film Festival" is held from January 20 to 29 next year. Established in 2002, the London Short Film Festival is an independent 'BAFTA' and 'BIFA' qualifying short film festival. Every January the Festival hosts ten days of short films, live events, Q&As and multidisciplinary curation. Each edition presents between 250 and 500 British and international films along with other events such as seminars, panels and discussions with filmmakers. As stated in the Festival's introduction, it "exists to highlight a multitude of filmmakers, visual artists and creatives, across intersections and with a commitment to peripheral voices.

"We boast a 20-year ethos of giving space and visibility to unconventional and wholly independent films, and our programming seeks to place the contemporary in dialogue with its history and the world at large," the description reads. Further, the Festival is considered as a platform where filmmakers can define their careers, and celebrate their treasures and talents.

In about 20 minutes, the film "Pristina 2002" unfolds the friendship of two teenagers where their tendencies to change themselves lead them to confront the unexpected. The main role, that of Leti, is played by Hana Limani, while the character of Donna is represented by Rrezarta Haziraj. The filming of the film took place during the summer of last year, which, according to director Halili, was characterized by constant difficulties due to the situation with the pandemic.

Since the official premiere in France, Trëndelinë Halili, the director of "Prishtina 2002", announced that the film aims for other festivals in line, while the premiere in Kosovo may take place next summer.

“One of the main characters is more along the lines of childhood, while the other has taken bigger steps of adolescence and tries to impose things on the other as close friends. Both are very close to each other, but the difference between them makes the two characters enter into a game, in an unexpected one", Halili said days ago in an answer to KOHEN.

In this year's edition of the festival with a 45-year tradition, "Festival du court métrage de Clermont-Ferrand", which is held from January 27 to February 4, "Pristina 2002" was selected from a competition with about 7 thousand films. Among the 76 films in the competition, "Prishtina 2002" aims for the award for the best international film - one of the three competing categories between the national one and the films of young creators. The film premieres on January 31 and the director will also be present. Within the framework of the festival, "Pristina 2002" will be shown eight times. The short film festival held in Clermont-Ferrand in France is one of the largest international festivals in the world and the second in France after the Cannes Festival, in terms of audience. It is committed to providing a wide range of film works with films in the genres of fiction, science fiction, horror, documentaries and others. This year's edition has a total of 159 films in competition.

"Prishtina 2002" was produced by the film house "Kandërr", with the support of the Cinematographic Center of Kosovo and the Municipality of Pristina. Producer Ermal Gërdovci said that the immediate success of the film was expected, despite the fact that there was no distribution company.
