"Kosova.Film" a bridge between Kosovo's potential and the world of cinematography

"Kosovo.Film"

“Kosova.Film” as an online platform provides data in four areas. In English and German, information can be obtained about actors, potential filming locations, and film workers. 344 local and regional actors are registered.

The “Kosova.Film” platform launched by the Kosovo Film Center is the address that is expected to bring together in one place talents, resources and possible filming locations as information for all film professionals. This new initiative aims to create connections between local artists and international productions, presenting Kosovo as an attractive destination for film projects.

After Kosovo finalized the legal preparation for foreign companies that invest and spend directly in Kosovo for their cinematographic projects to be reimbursed with 30 percent of the investment value, a digital platform is aimed at showing the potential of the youngest state in Europe. The “Kosova.Film” platform launched by the Kosovo Cinematographic Center is the address that is expected to bring together talents, resources and potential filming locations in one place as information for all film professionals. This new initiative aims to create connections between local artists and international productions, presenting Kosovo as an attractive destination for film projects.

“Kosova.Film” as an online platform provides data in four areas. In English and German, information can be obtained about actors, locations with filming potential, and film workers. 344 local and regional actors are registered. The locations include some of the most representative ones that Kosovo has, such as: forts, the “Ulpiana” archaeological park, other monuments, restaurants and spaces that can be adapted to film crews. The platform that bears the name of the former Kosovo film house is expected to be enriched with even more data. It also contains news from cinematographic developments in Kosovo.

The Kosovo Cinematography Center has called for the film community to register on this website.

"Are you an actor, director, producer or part of a film crew? 'Kosova.Film' is starting to create a database of artists and film professionals in Kosovo. This is the first step to connecting with new projects, producers and international opportunities," the CCK website states.
The page provides explanations of why those involved in the seventh art should register on this platform and briefly outlines what it offers.

"Why register? Showcase your talent and promote the work you do. Get new opportunities to collaborate with local and foreign productions. Help build Kosovo's film industry. Register now on "Kosova.Film" and become part of the platform that connects local talent with new film opportunities," the website reads.

"The goal of 'Kosova.film' is to gather and present in one place all the talents and resources that the film industry has in Kosovo. This platform was created to help actors, directors, and other film professionals connect with each other, as well as to promote the locations that Kosovo offers for film productions," the CCK's responses state.

According to the CCK, a large part of this goal is also related to the rebate regulation. The highest cinematographic institution with this platform claims to create a stable base of information and contacts, which not only serves filmmakers, but also makes Kosovo a more attractive destination for international filming and investment. According to the CCK, the website is like a bridge that helps young and experienced artists create more opportunities for themselves and for the film industry.

"Therefore, we invite all filmmakers, including actors, directors, screenwriters, producers, cameramen, camera assistants, sound designers, sound recorders, editors, makeup artists, lighting designers, costume designers, set designers and any other professional who contributes to the film industry in Kosovo, to register with Kosova.film," the CCK's responses read.

According to the CCK, it is the first time that a platform of this kind has been built, which not only summarizes detailed information for all film industry professionals, but also creates new opportunities for international cooperation and the further development of local cinematography.

"Although until now we have had a database through the Kosovo Cinematographic Center website, this initiative goes beyond it, focusing on the needs of filmmakers and investors, as well as making our industry more accessible and transparent for everyone," the KCC's responses state.

According to the CCK's response, so far not much thought has been given to such a platform, because information about the film industry was distributed in various places, such as official websites or personal contacts. Reality has shown that this type of organization is not sufficiently accessible, especially for those who are starting their careers in foreign productions and who have wanted to collaborate with CCK.

From the perspective of the CCK, the creation of "Kosova.film" has come as a need of the hour.

"The film industry in Kosovo is growing and becoming more visible, but to move it forward, we need a platform that not only brings everyone together, but shows Kosovo as a serious and organized country for film projects. It is not that there has been a lack of will, but now the right moment has come to take this step," the CCK's responses state.

According to the CCK, “Kosova.Film” is offering many benefits to artists and film professionals. Through this platform, according to the CCK, they have the opportunity to be part of a large network where their skills are presented and become more visible to productions, both inside and outside Kosovo.

"One of the biggest benefits is easy and direct access. A director or producer can connect with an actor or screenwriter without intermediaries, which makes it easier to collaborate on new projects. Furthermore, actors who register on Kosova.film automatically become part of the European casting platform (Filmmakers.eu), opening doors to international opportunities," the CCK's responses state.

For young artists, according to the CCK, this platform is particularly important.

"Often, the biggest challenge for them is to create connections in the industry. Here, they have a place where they can present their work and connect with the right people. This platform was created precisely to help local artists and professionals connect more easily with each other and with international productions," the QKK's responses read.

According to the CCK, Kosovo has much to offer, from extraordinary talent to beautiful filming locations.

"Through this platform, we not only promote these opportunities, but also create a space where collaborations between our artists and foreign cinematographers become much easier and more natural," the response reads.

The founders of this website believe that the platform will help not only promote Kosovo as an important film destination, but also strengthen professional and cultural ties.

"At the end of the day, the main goal is to create a community where our and international artists feel welcome and ready to work together," the CCK's responses state.

The platform bears the name of the former organization for the production, distribution and screening of films "KosovaFilm" which was founded on February 20, 1969. Until the early 90s, films made in Kosovo bore the seal of this organization. Now, with the Law on Cinematography, the organization's assets are the property of the CCK.
