Skanderbeg Castle on Cape Rodon, my story

Cape Rodoni is one of the most visited destinations, where, in addition to natural resources, two of the most important objects of the Ishmi area, Skenderbeu Castle and Saint Ndou Church, are part of the guide.

These two destinations hide culture and history in addition to natural beauty.

The Church of Saint Ndou is one of the most famous churches in the area from the Albanian Middle Ages. This is also due to the constructions that Skenderbeu made in that area of the Cape in the XNUMXth century, indirectly it is also called the church of Skenderbeu. The monument today presents values as a building that belongs to the Romano-Gothic architecture of the century. XIII, transmits atsh.

After its reconstruction in recent years, a rider on horseback and a double-headed eagle, with wings down, can still be clearly seen. In other parts of the walls there are other traces of frescoes. Due to its monumental values, the connection of its existence with one of the most prominent periods of Albania's history, as well as due to its geographical position and stunning landscape, the Church of Saint Ndou is one of the most visited points for tourists and domestic visitors.

That church and the surrounding areas are considered a holy place and every June 13 of every year they become a place of pilgrimage and celebrations where, in addition to the residents of the surrounding areas, tourists and other visitors come.

Skenderbeu Castle is located in the northeastern part of Cape Rodon, or as the locals call it, Cape Muzhi, and overlooks not only the depths of the Adriatic Sea, but also the bays of Patok and Shëngjin.

This castle began to be built after the first siege of Kruja in 1450. Its completion is thought to have been done around 1452. The wall of the Rodon castle was built by Venetian masters. It reached a length of 400 meters and there were round towers at the top of the castle. As a result of the erosive activities of the sea waters, part of the walls have been submerged under the waters of the Adriatic Sea.

Today visitors can look at the outer walls on the right side, which end with a round tower. The ruins of St. Peter's Church are also located near the castle.
