Ahmet Brahimaj, who was the initiator of ballet in Kosovo, died today at the age of 66.
Born in Novosella, Peja in 1953, he completed the Ballet High School in Skopje.
Brahimaj, who belongs to the first generation of Ballet in Kosovo, in 1972, together with other dancers returned to Pristina to found the Ballet Ensemble.
As a soloist of this troupe, Ahmet Brahimaj played in all the shows that were performed at that time. He embodied his movements as a dancer in the roles of 38 ballet performances and in many other drama premieres.

Ahmet Brahmaj was the main contributor to the re-establishment of the Ballet School, respectively the National Ballet of Kosovo, where he served as director from 1985 until his retirement.
After the war, together with his colleagues, they opened the High School of Ballet, within the "Prenkë Jakova" school of music, in Pristina. Ahmet Brahimaj's class graduated in 2005, and is the first generation after the war.
The dancer Brahimaj never gave up on difficulties to raise the level of Kosovar ballet. In 1990, they left the theater by force. After the war, when institutional life returned, Brahimaj quickly realized that he no longer belonged to the scene.
Ahmetaj always attributed the success of the performances of the National Ballet of Kosovo to the new generation of dancers. He considered their applause and successes to be the best show.
Even though a life stood on the stage and next to it, Brahimaj was also left with a hostage.

In 2011, by the Order of the President of Kosovo, on the occasion of November 28, Ahmet Brahimaj was awarded the great award "Deserved Artist" for his contribution to the development of the Art of Ballet in Kosovo.
Ahmet Brahimaj was buried today in his native village.
