Three Albanian dramas have been selected among the sixty sosh to become part of the repertoire of dramaturgical texts in many languages. The European network for translated dramas - "Eurodram" - has announced the selection of dramas for 2020 as "recommended for translation".
According to the announcement posted on the "eurodram.org" page, "they were selected by 290 members of 29 language committees, from 841 original dramas received in 2019".
Thus, "Veriu" by Agush Mulliqi, "Paladuku" by Albana Muja and "Aliu ne makth" by Erjus Mezini, are three Albanian dramas that have entered the circle of 60 dramas that will be translated into the languages of this network.
This comes after the Albanian Committee of "Eurodrama", in charge of selecting the three best Albanian dramas, in December of last year announced the call for the year 2019-2020.
According to the announcement, the dramas do not necessarily have to have been staged or published before, with the exception of those texts that have been part of previous "Eurodram" calls.
Lirak Çelaj, a member of the Albanian Committee in "Eurodram", in a statement for TIME, has informed that 11 authors and 15 texts from all Albanian regions responded to the last call. He said that he expects the number of interested parties to be even greater in the coming years.
"Fortunately, there have been quite a few quality texts and it has really been difficult to determine which one is better than the other. So, it was a very difficult decision, but I believe it is deserved", said Çelaj.
