As every year, this edition of the "Chopin Piano Fest" festival is focusing on students, especially young pianists. The organizers of the Festival have opened the audition for the "Special Award" of the Festival. Piano students of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Prishtina and piano students from music schools in the country who are prize winners in preliminary competitions are eligible to participate in the audition. The award is given to only one person and its mission is to identify young talents in the country.
Auditions will be held on June 28 starting at 12:00 in the New Amphitheater of the University Library. All the concerts are being held there as part of this year's edition, which started on May 31 and will end on June 30.
This award is shared by the Festival with the support of dr. Herbert Groeger from "Bad Honnef", Salzburg, in collaboration with the well-known Albanian pianist Ardita Statovci, who was the initiator of the organization of this special award since 2017.
Participants must have prepared a program lasting 60 minutes, in case they will be selected as winners. And in the selection audition, candidates must perform a program of 45 minutes, including an obligatory work by Beethoven (besides the sonatas and variations, other shorter works by this composer can be played) or a work by R. Schumann. The rest of the repertoire is free.
And according to the announcement published by "Chopin Piano Fest", candidates are encouraged to include a piece from Albanian composers in the program. The program, according to the rules established by the Festival, is played by heart in the audition.

Candidates who do not apply with the written program and relevant details by the 20th of this month will not be able to play in the audition. Also, in the announcement, it was announced that the winning candidates of the previous editions of the "Special Prize" of the "Chopin Piano Fest" will not have the right to compete.
It was announced there that in this edition the "Special Prize", as in previous times, includes a recital concert in German-speaking countries, Germany or Austria during the 2021-2022 season, a master class, a visit to historical places of historical musical importance in one of the cities in German-speaking countries, familiarization with the culture of this region while all expenses are covered by the "Special Prize" sponsor.
The organizational director of "Chopin Piano Fest", Besa Luzha, said that this is a fantastic opportunity to establish the career of a pianist.
"This is a rare and excellent opportunity for young and talented pianists," she said.
In 2017 the winner of this award was the pianist Fortesa Jusufi, then in 2018 the "Special Award" was won by Anila Aliu and in 2019 it was won by Andi Duraku. Last year this prize was not awarded, as the "Chopin Piano Fest" was not held due to the pandemic.

This year, for the 11th edition, the festival is paying special attention to young pianists by offering them lectures and masterclasses with the guests it is bringing. Also, there will be a series of concerts where young talents will be presented, from the children of 8 music schools (on June 20) and several thematic evenings with young musicians (Evening in honor of Beethoven June 23), Romantic evening (June 24), Evening of young soloists (June 25) and Juvenis Stage (June 26).
The next concert of "Chopin Piano Fest" will be held on Monday (today) with singers from Albania, Marjana Lekaj and Armaldo Kllogjeri, accompanied by pianist Lejla Pula.
