The Macedonian authorities are asked to withdraw from covering the traces of Saint Teresa

The disappearance of the traces of Mother Teresa's house and the blocking of the road to place flowers on her memorial plaque in the center of Skopje, have been the two main concerns of the Institute of Spiritual and Cultural Heritage of Albanians - Skopje (ITSHKSH). With a press conference on Tuesday, right in front of the new park right next to the main square of the capital of North Macedonia, the director of this institute, Skender Asani, called the decision taken by the authorities of the city of Skopje disturbing.

"As you can see, there are no longer any traces of Mother Teresa's house in this place and, in addition, the road to place flowers on the memorial plaque of this house has been blocked. Despite the rumours, all the facts say that this was the house where she was born, so this place was considered for several years as a sign of the house of Gonxhe Bojaxhiu - Mother Teresa, and had become a point of pilgrimage for admirers of her personality". said Asani in front of the media, writes KOHA.

With this decision, which, according to him, "it is not known how it was taken, when it was taken and by whom", the figure of Mother Teresa was also attacked.

"Based on this, the Institute of Spiritual and Cultural Heritage of Albanians, as the only scientific institution in the country that has a department for the study and protection of the heritage of Gonxhe Bojaxhi - Mother Teresa, which is accredited by the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, expresses his deep indignation for this irresponsible action and considers that this is an attack on the figure of Mother Teresa, on her internationally recognized and accepted work, but also on her admirers all over the world", he said.

Further, the director of ITSHKSH has informed that they have sent a letter to the president of the state, the speaker of the Assembly, the prime minister, as well as the head of the city of Skopje to, in accordance with their competences and possibilities, restore the previous situation "until this decision has reached international proportions, so that our country is ashamed of this irresponsibility".
