Art that breaks down emigration "accompanies" Kosovar leaders in Berlin

Pristina, April 30 - The issue of refugees, emigration or flight of Kosovo Albanians is not reported to have been a topic of conversation between the political leaders of the country at Monday's meeting at the Embassy of Kosovo in Berlin. But in the background there have been works of art related to this theme.

On the walls of the premises of this institution, President Hashim Thaçi and Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj have seen the works of the artist Shpresa Faqi. Among them are also those with car tire caps, which have prompted quite a few comments and questions on social networks after the publication of photos from the meeting. They are part of the exhibition "Driving" which is related to the issue of emigration, refugees and the movement of Albanians.

The country's president and prime minister traveled to Germany to participate in the Berlin Summit. They were also received at the Embassy of Kosovo in Germany. The Berlin summit organized by the German chancellery, Angela Merkel, and the French president, Emmanuel Macron, among others, also focuses on the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. Precisely because of the oppression by Serbia and then the murders during the war in 1999, the Albanians had turned into refugees. Artist Faqi and her family left Kosovo almost three decades ago. Her exhibition "Driving" was opened at the Embassy of Kosovo in Berlin, in December last year, and will remain there until the end of this month. It deciphers a lot through it. A trip from Kassel, Germany to Pristina, along with stops in other cities, became her life's journey. Going through the same road that she had passed 28 years ago with her family when they left Kosovo, brings powerful confessions.

On Monday, when her works reappeared in the background of the meeting in Berlin of Kosovo politicians, Faqi recalled the genesis of "Driving".
