The Police of Albania managed to return to the Archaeological Park of Apollonia 264 artefacts, which were stolen from this locality.
As the Tirana media reports, there is no information on when the artifacts were stolen, but after the investigations carried out by the Albanian State Police, they have been returned to one of the most prominent cultural heritage sites in Albania, writes "Koha Ditore" today.
Thefts of archaeological artifacts in Albania began immediately after the fall of communism. Robbers have managed to sell them on the international illegal market. But the Minister of Culture, Mirela Kumbaro-Furxhi, on the occasion of the presentation of the artifacts that have been returned to Apollonia, said that the protection of the cultural assets of the country is already a national strategy, but their preservation, according to her, is everyone's duty.
"If we are aware of the extraordinary treasures we have, specifically the residents of Fier and all of us, we will know how to protect them. Because it is impossible for every stone or heritage object to be protected by a guard or a policeman, if we all do not protect them", Kumbao-Furxhi is quoted as saying, in a presentation of the artifacts...
