Tirana, January 8 - The Academy of Sciences of Albania will hold elections for the new Presidency, even though the new law for this institution has not yet been approved. All this is done in the name of the reforms that have been requested and that followed after numerous criticisms addressed to ASh. On Thursday of this week, the next ASh Assembly will be held, during which the date of the new elections will be determined, as well as the commission that will administer the process, from the announcement of the criteria to the platforms and the voting of candidates.
In September 2018, Gudar Beqiraj became president after a term as vice president of this academy. While Myzafer Korkuti, who previously held the office of AShSh president, was the only candidate for vice president and the vote produced a round between Beqiraj and Korkuti.
