Although they have not yet been seen on the red carpet, members of the team of the film "The Road" are in the center of attention and on Tuesday in Cannes they met with those among whom they are comfortable: members of world festivals. "It was a beautiful atmosphere, because there were many important guests from the film industry, especially we had a great attendance of programmers from some of the biggest festivals in the world, and this was something that made us very happy. There were programmers from 'Sundance', 'Berlinale', Venice, Tallinn, Sarajevo, Toronto and others", said Blerta Zeqiri, director of the Cinematographic Center of Kosovo.

EThe set of the film "The Road", the Kosovar film candidate for the "Palm d'Or", has already arrived at the Cannes Film Festival, and the presence of members of the director Samir Karahoda has been a reason since Tuesday at the stand of the Cinematographic Center of Kosovo. populated. A party was organized in honor of the team and there were present not only representatives of the "festival of festivals", as Cannes is known, which this year is holding its 77th edition, but also of other world events. Those of the "heavy category".

"We held an event, which we organized together with the Embassy of Kosovo in France. It was a very nice reception that was held in honor of the film 'The Road', which is part of the official Cannes competition for the short film category. The whole organization was made to respect the director Samir Karahoda and the main actor of the film, which is Miron Karahoda", said late Tuesday Blerta Zeqiri, director of the Cinematographic Center of Kosovo, which has continued the tradition of representation at the "Marché du Film ”, which is considered the largest film market in the world. Zeqiri has been there since the opening of the Festival last Tuesday.

"It was a beautiful atmosphere, because there were many important guests from the film industry, especially we had a large attendance of programmers from some of the biggest festivals in the world, and this was something that made us very happy," described Zeqiri. . The list of guests comes no later than from the festivals of category A.

"There were programmers from 'Sundance', 'Berlinale', Venice, Tallinn, Sarajevo, Toronto and others", said Zeqiri.

As early as last week when stand no. 138 shared with Albania was opened, Zeqiri had "anticipated" the attention that Kosovo will receive this year, precisely because of "The Road".

"We are waiting for the world premiere of the film on May 24th, and then on the 25th, the award ceremony will take place, where we are hoping that we will return with some prize. But, even if something like this does not happen, for all of us it is an extraordinary reward to be part of this festival, because it is a big and powerful competition", said Zeqiri.

The premiere will be at the "Debussy" theater, the emblematic auditorium of the Palace of the International Film Festival in Cannes with a capacity of 1068 seats. Karahoda also wrote the screenplay for the film Tok with his son Miron Karahoda, who plays in the film. In the "trailer" of "Ruga" it is known that father and son have a war talk. It is a story from a country that is fresh from the war, having faced it a quarter of a century ago. The conversation between the two highlights the lost hope and the fear of another war. The father comforts his son that this war is difficult because of migration from both sides that could potentially fight. On the way from Pristina to the "Adem Jashari" international airport, through the discussion of the duo, the problems of Kosovo in 2024 are reflected, which undoubtedly coincide with global problems beyond the local context.

Director Samir Karahoda together with co-producer Eroll Bilibani and editor Enis Saraçi are not unknown names in Cannes, but also in other festivals such as "Berlinalja", that of Toronto and "Sundace". In June 2021, for the first time, a local film entered the competition for the "Golden Palm". Karahoda's short film "Pa vend" was part of the official competition in the category of short films. But his story did not end there. In September 2021, it received the Best Short Film Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. The way was opened for "Oscar". "This success will continue to maintain the pace of promotion of our cinematography", Karahoda would say at the time.

"We managed to send it to Cannes and Toronto. For us this has been a success. Samir now has three awards of honor: that of Berlinale, Cannes and Toronto. There is no director in the world who has made two films and has this success", said producer Eroll Biliobani. But the "bites" kept coming and increasing. When it was thought that this would end the path of success, in January 2022 he received the Jury Prize in the category of short films at the "Sundance Film Festival".

Now Karahoda and his friends keep the rhythm even with "Rrugës", his third film. Even the first, "In the middle" has a history of historic successes. With this project, for the first time, he put the name of Kosovo in the official competition of "Berlinales", one of the most prominent festivals of Category A, where it premiered in February 2019.

"For all of Kosovo, as such a small country, the fact that we are present in Cannes is a big event, thanks to the tireless work of Samir and the entire team of the film 'The Road'", said Zeqiri. He repeated his congratulations for the "Golden Palm". The award that awaits Kosovo on Friday.
