The government and the opposition demand a reduction in the price of energy tariffs for 2024. In the Vetëvendosje Movement, they say that the possibility of reducing the price of energy tariffs should be considered, since it has been possible to fulfill the financial gap in this sector, created as a result of the crisis energetic. And the opposition said that the price of electricity has no reason to increase

When there is more than a month left to set the price of energy tariffs for 2024, the government and the opposition demand their reduction.

The MP from the ruling party, Vetëvendosje Movement, Driton Hyseni, considers that the Office of the Energy Regulator should look for a reduction in tariffs, since it has been possible to fill the financial gap in this sector, created as a result of the energy crisis.

"Taking as a basis a good reduction in the price of electricity in the international stock exchanges, taking as a basis the good performance of KEK, as far as the generation of electricity in the country is concerned, I consider that in no case, the scenario will not we have an increase in the price of electricity in April, but the ERO, I consider that it is necessary to review the reduction as well", said Hyseni.

The increase in the price of energy, according to the deputy of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Ferat Shala, is contrary to the current economic situation.

"Any other attempt, in any legal or illegal form, to raise the price of energy, contradicts all the principles of the market economy, all the principles of the real economic situation of our country... I would not like to think that the government in every year to raise the price of energy, even so for the last two years the government has raised the price of energy over 120 percent", declared Shala.

The deputy from the Democratic League of Kosovo, Valentina Rexhepi-Bunjaku, also says that the electricity price has no reason to increase.

"Realistically, ERO should also think with a cool head, because life has become unaffordable for citizens. If there must be an increase in electricity tariffs, there must also be an increase in wages in Kosovo, and unemployment should simply be alleviated", Rexhepi-Bunjaku emphasized.

The Office of the Energy Regulator said that they still do not have the information about the tariff prices.

KOHA reported earlier that the price of energy tariffs for 2024 is not expected to have major movements.
In 2023, the price on the exchanges was lower than the Energy Regulatory Office predicted when it made the decision to increase the price of tariffs.

The decision by ERO is expected to be taken during the month of March, and will come into force on April 1.
