Kurti: The relations with the USA are very good, I would go to Brussels for the signing of the agreement

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that the High Representative of the EU, Josep Borrell, did not mention the invitation to a possible meeting with the President of Serbia, Aleksandër Vučić. Kurti said that he would go to Brussels to sign the agreement agreed almost a year ago. In Gjilan, where he participated in the laying of the foundation stone of a factory, Kurti insisted that relations with the USA are very good, even though they do not agree on all issues.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has insisted that relations with the United States of America are good, even after American Ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier, a few days ago, declared that the dinar issue has damaged relations with the Government.

On Monday, after participating in the laying of the foundation stone of a factory for doors and windows in Gjilan, Kurti said that they do not always agree with the USA and as a government they have the duty to support the CBK regulation.

"Our relations, our cooperation with the United States of America is very good, now we are partners, allies, friends, this does not mean that we agree absolutely every time in every country on everything, but in this respect we have a new regulation of To the Central Bank of Kosovo, which the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, according to the Constitution and the law, has the duty to support there, I also say that our reports are very good and it lives up to its word", said Kurti.

Speaking about the dialogue process, Prime Minister Kurti said that in the discussion he held in Munich, Germany with the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, a high-level meeting with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, was not mentioned. . Previously, Borrell has said that he will try to arrange a meeting between Vucic and Kurti, while the president of Serbia has stated that he expects the invitation this week.

According to Kurti, he is going to Brussels to meet with the president of Serbia, Aleksandër Vucic, to sign the agreement, agreed a year ago.

"If they call us to sign the agreement, I will definitely go. I have been constructive and committed even when we were called to Brussels and the round of talks cannot be said to have been successful. He does this for the EU, but he also does it because we must have normal relations with Serbia. As for me, these would be normalized as early as last year, but if it has not been done in February and March of 2023, it can be done in February and March of 2024, why not", Prime Minister Kurti said.

According to the Prime Minister of Kosovo, with the signing of the agreement reached in February and its annex in March of last year, all violations committed by Serbia would be cancelled.

"If I receive that invitation, of course we will consider it and I am generally positive, but I reiterate that the violations so far, the non-respect of the agreements that Serbia has made, which culminated in Prime Minister Bërnabiq's letter where she practically withdrew from the agreement are canceled by signature. In the comment that Serbia would sign the agreement, all those previous violations are canceled and security is created for the way forward".

Germany awaits the implementation of the agreement agreed between Kosovo and Serbia. The German emissary, Manuel Sarrazin, has told Deustche Welles that the EU's special envoy, Miroslav Lajcak, is working in this direction.

"It seems to me that there is no point in thinking too much about what will come next. We are for Ohrid and we want both parties to move forward with the implementation of Ohrid and I think this is crucial. I see on both sides that domestic politics will become an important factor. I want to say it explicitly; the future of the entire region is in the EU, and this should sometimes stand above internal politics", said Sarrazin in an interview for DW.
