A 59-year-old man lost his life in Ferizaj after falling from the sixth floor of a building under construction, where the victim was a worker.

The case was confirmed to KOHA by the Kosovo Police spokesperson for the Ferizaj region, Kanun Veseli, who announced that the incident occurred on "Remzi Hoxha" street, while emergency teams determined the victim's death.

"On 13.04.2026, at around 11:45, information was received that a person had fallen from a building under construction on "Remzi Hoxha" Street. The police patrol immediately went to the scene, where emergency teams also determined the victim's death. It is suspected that the victim is a 59-year-old male, who fell from the 6th floor of the building under construction during the works," said the response from spokesperson Veseli.

According to the Kosovo Police, in addition to forensics, municipal labor inspectors have also been notified of this case.

A person has been detained in Ferizaj, following the death of a 59-year-old man who, according to the Police, had fallen from the building where he was working.

The suspect, with the initials NE, has been detained for 48 hours, on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of "Destruction, damage or removal of protective equipment and endangering safety in the workplace."

According to the announcement, the State Prosecutor has instructed the Police and the Labor Inspectorate to take the necessary investigative actions in order to clarify the circumstances of this case.

"Meanwhile, by order of the state prosecutor, the victim's body has been sent for autopsy to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pristina. The Basic Prosecution Office in Ferizaj will continue with further legal procedures against the aforementioned suspect within the legal deadline," the announcement states.
