A tragic event occurred on Wednesday in southern Albania, where a Dutch tourist, 23-year-old MB, died, local media reported.
The young woman was in the company of her friends in the rocky area of Filikuri Bay, one of the most visited beaches in the south, when she accidentally slipped from a height of about 30 meters. According to reports, her friend had tried to hold her hand, but was unable to stop her fall.
Immediately after the incident, emergency services were notified, while Himara Police, border police, firefighters and an ambulance intervened at the scene. After efforts in the difficult rocky terrain, it was possible to extract the victim's lifeless body.
In addition to the victim, another 18-year-old woman was injured as a result of falling rocks and was transported to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana. Fortunately, her life is out of danger.
Other tourists in the area were helped to leave safely, while authorities have launched investigations to uncover the full circumstances of the incident.
Filikuri Bay is a popular tourist destination in Vlora, but due to the difficult terrain, it can only be reached by sea or by rappelling down steep cliffs.
