At least three people have died as a result of a traffic accident that occurred on the Gjilan-Prishtina road.
The spokesperson of the Police for the Prishtina region, Flora Ahmeti, told KOHA that the case happened in the late hours of Saturday.
In this accident, the traffic involved was a vehicle.
"Last night around 23:00 p.m. we received information that a traffic accident with fatal consequences occurred on the Gjilan-Prishtina road. In this accident, a moving vehicle was involved. As a result of the accident, three people died. The death of the victims was confirmed by the medical team at the scene", she said.
The police have launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances that led to this accident.
The Minister of the Interior of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, has expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, while calling on citizens to drive carefully.
"Last night after midnight, three young people were found dead in a car accident, two of whom have already been identified. Immediately after the accident, the Kosovo Police intervened at the scene, and with the help of the KSF and the firefighters, pulled the car out of Lake Badoc and the bodies of the deceased. Currently, experts in the field are investigating the cause of the accident. I express my sincere condolences to the families of the victims and we are by their side in these difficult moments for them. I call on all citizens to drive carefully in order to avoid such accidents and not to repeat them", Sveçla wrote on Facebook.
The mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, has also consoled the families of the victims.
"It is with deep sadness that I received the news of the tragic loss of life of three young people in the accident at Badoc Lake. These are difficult moments for their families and relatives, and in these moments of pain, I want to express my most sincere condolences. We pray that they find the strength to bear this great loss. We are with you in this difficult moment", wrote the mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama on Facebook.
The president of AAK, Ramush Haradinaj, has asked the Kosovo Police to clarify the case.
"The loss of life of three citizens in Lake Badoc is sad news. We request that the Police clarify the circumstances of this case. We share the pain with the families who lost their loved ones. May God strengthen them in these very difficult moments for them!" - wrote Haradinaj on Facebook.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, has said that the state bodies are maximally committed to clarifying the case.
He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, saying that "I hope they find the strength to face this tragedy".
Konjufca has called for increased caution during unfavorable weather conditions "that increase the risks during the movement with automobile vehicles".
"It was with great pain that I received the news that three young people died in last night's accident in Lake Badoc. I was informed that the relevant bodies are maximally engaged with the case in order to clarify it completely. And at the same time, I join the call for increased caution during these unfavorable weather conditions that increase the risks along the movement by motor vehicles. Sharing the pain of the family members and friends of the victims, I express my most sincere condolences to their families and hope they find the strength to face this shocking tragedy. May they rest in peace", said Speaker Konjufca.
Firefighters give details about the accident with three deaths in Badoc
The commander of the Fire Brigade in Prishtina, Malë Gashi, has announced that two of the dead bodies of the people involved in the accident that happened on Saturday night on the Gjilan-Prishtina road were pulled out by KSF divers from the water of Badoc. .
While, according to him, the dead body of the other victim was pulled along with the car by means of a rope.
The dead bodies of the three victims have been handed over to the forensic teams.
"Immediately, the fire brigades went to the scene. They tried to get the car out, but they couldn't because it was all submerged in water. The KSF diving team arrived, they pulled out two people who had lost their lives in the water, we pulled the one who was left in the car with a rope, we pulled out the car with the whole dead person with a truck, and then of course we also removed him from the car together with the KSF, and we handed him over to the medical-legal teams", Gashi told KOĖN.
